About Nashville 10
An independent Nashville guide: top ten lists of local businesses for residents, newcomers and visitors.
Ask for a recommendation in a Nashville neighborhood group and you get forty answers, half of them for places that closed last year. Nashville 10 does the sorting for you: one topic, ten names at most, each one checked against what customers say and whether the business can still be reached.
What we cover
Everyday Nashville: hot chicken and the Kurdish and Mexican kitchens along Nolensville Pike, family doctors and orthopedists, mechanics, roofers, accountants, bankruptcy attorneys, dance studios, vets and plenty more. New lists are published every week.
Why ten
Ten is enough to compare price, distance and opening hours, and few enough to read in one sitting. When a topic has only five businesses that hold up, we publish five rather than padding the list.
Who uses it
People who moved here for a job at one of the hospitals or a startup in the Gulch, students at Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb or Tennessee State, longtime locals whose favorite spot just shut, and visitors in town for a show at the Ryman who want to eat somewhere other than Broadway.
Who pays, and for what
No business can buy its way onto a list. A business that already appears may pay for a plan: Pro adds its own description, photos and contact buttons, and Top places it among the first spots of a list it earned on its own. Paid placements always show their label, and everyone else keeps the order our research gave them.
